As an Associate Product Manager (APM), you’ll play a critical role in building the next generation of crypto products.  In this capacity, you’ll partner with engineering, design and cross-functional teams to develop and build mission critical features and platforms.  Our APMs and Product Managers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cryptocurrency and creating an open financial system for the world.

The APM Program is a two year program where you will join two teams across our entire Product organization for approximately two 12-month rotations. Please note, the start date for this program will be August 2023.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Define product requirements and collaborate with a cross-functional team on a frequent basis to execute on product launches. 
• Develop and execute against a product strategy that delivers the highest impact to your team, working closely with engineering, design, data and other stakeholders to set goals.
• Maintain a customer-centric focus by conducting user research, upholding product excellence, and analyzing user feedback and metrics to guide product innovation.
• Set success metrics for launches and analyze results throughout various stages to guide product development decisions.
• Become an expert in Coinbase’s strategic and competitive position in the web3 ecosystem and develop a well-rounded understanding of web3 (DeFi, NFTs,Trading, Layer 1 blockchains, DAOs).

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

• • Current students graduating between December 2022 - Summer 2023 who are interested in creating an open financial system; common majors include Business, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Economics, and Math.
  • Pursuing either a bachelor's or master's degree with less than 2 years of any full-time work experience.

The Role

As a business development lead, you will work closely with the head of go-to-market to create new relationships with ecosystem partners, create commercial agreements, nurture relationships, coordinate joint go-to-market, and expand existing relationships with Alchemy partners. • Lead Machine Learning teams, such as the Risk Team.
• Guide the output of a team of 10+ ML engineers and work with product partners to identify and solve new use cases for ML on blockchain.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to break down complex projects into smaller pieces and iterate on their design and implementation.

• MS in Computer Science or other Engineering discipline (PhD preferred)
• 8+ years of experience, 3+ years of managing individual contributors across all levels
• Experience in leading multiple ML teams
• Experience in interfacing with partner orgs, and building ML strategy in collaboration with Product Manager partners.  Hence strong communication skills (both verbal and written) is necessary. 
• Experience in latest ML techniques (e.g. supervised and unsupervised learning, deep neural nets, reinforcement learning, transformers)
• Experience in coding on ML platforms (e.g. SKLearn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, pytorch)
• Ability to hire top performing engineering talent 
• You know what high quality code — and software engineering processes — look like and know how to foster an environment that creates them.
• Execution focused with an ability to navigate ambiguity.

The Data Platform & Services team at Coinbase is key to Coinbase’s mission to create an open financial system for the world. • Define a vision for how ML can be used to solve and automate Coinbase’s complex risk challenges
• Build the 1- and 3-year strategies and help prioritize the roadmap to shape how ML Risk can expand its scope across all Coinbase products to reduce payment fraud losses and other risks
• Work with counterparts in ML Engineering, and Data Science along with Product, Engineering, and Design in partner teams to build & launch core AI/ML capabilities
• Build relationships with stakeholders and teams to help influence and drive successful outcomes.
• Challenge existing status quo and push for new, effective, and scalable platform solutions.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

• Minimum of 7 + years of experience
• Expertise in applied AI/ML, or AI/ML infrastructure technologies strongly preferred
• Experience in Financial services / FinTech a plus 
• Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree preferred (MS or PhD)

• Gain subject matter expertise in the relevant business domain and develop an appreciation for customer pain points
