About the role

Outlier Ventures is seeking a Portfolio Management Associate with the goal of supporting the entrepreneurs we work with and increasing the value of OV’s growing investment portfolio of companies. We expect this individual to engage with the entrepreneurs we work with and to participate in the portfolio management workstreams. The role entails research, data gathering, data analysis and stakeholder engagement. The individual will work closing with our finance and treasury teams.

In this role you will be gathering information from the different teams at OV and directly from our portfolio companies.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Data gathering from the portfolio companies and the wider team at OV. The ideal candidate should be determined, systematic, and diligent in their work process.
• Maintaining our database of over 220+ portfolio companies. 
• Documenting portfolio and asset transactions.
• Working with our Ecosystem Associate to maintain strong lines of communications with founders.
• Assisting the CFO with the regular preparation of the asset valuation report.
• Assist with the creation and improvement of portfolio management processes.
• Preparing our quarterly portfolio review.
• Presenting the portfolio review to senior management.
• Work with the wider team at OV to meet the needs of our board and other stakeholders.

This is a great way to see everything that happens in the Web3 industry at an early stage where we work closely with founder teams through our accelerator program. This position is well suited to those looking to begin or continue their career in Web3. You’ll get exposure to a broad range of our team as well as seeing under the hood of investing in the best Web3 early stage startups.

About the role

This is a maternity cover position, working for Outlier Ventures. The role falls within the People Team and you will report to the People Manager. It’s a stand-alone role but you will work closely with the wider team to ensure the delivery of support services across the business. You will be a self-starter and familiar with working in a fast-paced and changing environment. You will be an excellent EA with outstanding office manager skills looking to join our team to cover a colleague’s maternity leave. Responsibilities for this position are outlined here in summary and there will be a comprehensive handover period. However, the nature of this role is one that requires someone who is pro-active and has the ability to manage and prioritise their own work.

Your Key Responsibilities:

EA Duties:

• Provide full EA support for CEO and Leadership Team of 8.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, using discretion and judgment, act as an extension and representative of your executive/s.
• Extensive diary management to include meetings, lunches, and travel including some personal diary management for CEO.
• Arrange Town Hall meetings for staff, board meetings and social events
• Responsible for booking team travel using Travelperk
• Manage any day to day operational needs to support the smooth running of the business including admin support for the team

Office Management:

• Manage all aspects of general office management.
• The first point of contact for the office.
• Meeting clients of the office and ensuring there are refreshments for them.
• Liaise with the landlord’s service providers and managing agent to ensure the office environment is maintained.
• Maintain office areas and create systems for employees to effectively use the meeting rooms, kitchen, hot desks and other communal areas.
• Managing office suppliers and their services and communications (cleaners, plant providers, telephone systems etc.).
• Order supplies and manage stock of stationary, kitchen items, food/ drinks etc.
• Maintaining office fire safety procedures and health and safety, liaising with the landlord where relevant.

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Investments to manage the tip of the spear for Outlier, in charge of recruiting and signing the best teams in Web3 to join one of Outlier’s accelerator programs with Base Camp or Ascent. You will play a pivotal role in the leading web3 accelerator’s deal flow pipeline, engaging in early stage ventures obtaining broad based exposure to founders, technologies and partners.

Leading the Investment team, you will build on the past 8 years of dealmaking in which Outlier has established itself as a category leader working closely with Program Managers as well as investment staff and subject matter experts (Product and Engineering, Fundraising, Token Economies, NFT Strategy teams) to scale the investment team, optimize the investment process as well as develop investment thesis in conjunction with senior management.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage comprehensive diligence on accelerator applicants, including operational and relevant financial diligence in order to obtain a robust view of the company’s people, products, technologies, go-to-market plan, competitive position, addressable market and other key drivers relevant to making an investment decision.
• Lead development of thesis for each cohort program.
• Manage and oversee overall process and logistics as it relates to recruiting activities including preparation of investment materials, running of investments committees as well as contract negotiation and signing of teams.
• Manage overall relationships and interactions with prospective founders ensuring that candidates have a clear understanding of Outlier’s unique value proposition and experience seamless interactions and communication throughout the full recruitment cycle.
• Have a sharp investment point of view on categories and companies justifying investments in companies to deliver outsized returns, having a clear understanding for disruptive market technology trends, enabling the development of market maps and targeted outreach to potential investment opportunities.
• Lead the development of a best in class investment team that is able to attract and close the top founders in Web3
• Oversee team’s market research activities, ensuring the team develops respective core competencies across sectors within Web3 (DeFi, gaming, infrastructure, NFTs, etc.)

We are looking for someone who:

• Has 8+ years of experience in early, fast-paced environments within technology, startups, entrepreneurship and venture capital with 3+ years specifically in Web3.
• Expertise in diligence, term sheets, negotiations and supporting/making investment recommendations

About the role

Ascent is Outlier Ventures’ leading token advisory and token launch program. The program is offered for later stage projects looking to maximize the success of their token economy, network, and token launch.

Our Ascent program focuses on the final stretch of a token launch, operationalizing requirements, and supporting teams with every aspect of successful token distribution. We help each company on the program across each stage of their token development from token model design, to simulation, to distribution, in the lead up to going live or supporting a token in-market through a calendar of structured workshops and weekly calls to monitor project progress.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Ascent team in-house expert and central hub of product / business knowledge on crypto public token markets and token launches
• Work closely with Ascent Program teams and advise teams on their token launch and distribution strategy to achieve a successful token sale event
• Conduct in-depth research on crypto public token markets and token launches to publish research reports and provide teams with data-driven advice
• Support the Ascent team in expanding and maintaining relationships with different token distribution platforms (token launchpads, CEXs, DEXs) and market makers
• Engage with potential Ascent program target projects and build relationships built on mutual trust and respect
• Help teams set goals pertaining to their token launches and maintain accountability 
• Partner with our portfolio companies and support them during their growth journey
• Be a proactive part of a continual feedback loop improving the Ascent program
• Act as a focal point to bring the OV network to the cohort
• Report project performance based on business objectives and agreed key performance indicators

We are looking for someone who:

• Has at least 5-6 years experience in the following fields: 
  • Investment banking or capital markets advisory
  • Token listings team in a top tier centralized exchange or token launchpad
• Strong knowledge of the different token distribution mechanisms (token sale platforms, IEOs, IDO platforms, auctions, DEXs, etc.) 
• Highly experienced with investing in Web3 projects pre- and post-token listings and a passion for the crypto industry
• Good knowledge of the regulatory environment around tokens 
• Ability to engage with senior executives, clients and co-investors
• Detail-oriented, structured thinker with strong project management skills
• High agency and a lifelong learner

About the role

The Head of Legal and Company Secretary at OV provides strategic legal advice of the highest possible standard for the Board, the CEO, and the Leadership Team. The Head of Legal provides strategic legal advice on all aspects including operational issues, covering governance, corporate and institutional legal matters. The Head of Legal ensures efficient and effective management of the Legal team. S/he works closely with other senior executives to ensure effective communication and information flow that facilitates smooth and predictable
decision-making and enables OV to deliver to its Mission. This is a demanding and complex task and will require an experienced leader. It will be important to develop strong partnerships with other members of the Leadership Team and OV Partners.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Advise the Board and CEO on the OV’s overall legal, commercial and regulatory strategy
• Lead the firm’s legal department
• Attend all board meetings and as Company Secretary is responsible for the efficient administration of a company, particularly with regard to ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and for ensuring that decisions of the board of directors are implemented.
• Provide the necessary legal input on all transaction and contractual negotiations, responsible for protecting the OV’s interests in the documentation and ensuring that a proper due diligence exercise is undertaken
• Assist with structuring the firm’s various accelerator programmes, including structuring and launching new ecosystem partnership programmes
• Work directly with accelerator projects on an ad-hoc basis providing workshops, support and guidance on legal, regulatory and structuring issues
• Promote a culture of effective management of governance and that preparatory papers, minutes, action lists and the like are in good order
• Ensure effective processes and systems for the execution of contracts and other legal documents by authorized signatories and that complete and accurate copies of contract documentation are kept and are accessible 
• Develop and manage relationships with external law firms and ensure that any external legal resource is appropriate for the advice sought and cost effective
• Horizon-scan to define the regulatory landscape in which the OV operates;
• Establish effective and best practice governance processes for the Boards and their Committees (e.g. putting in place appropriate terms of reference)
• Overseeing the contract management process for the firm’s various accelerator programmes
• Monitoring relevant legal and regulatory changes, and providing thought leadership both internally and externally
• Protect and enhance the OV’s endeavors, objectives and reputation by providing timely and appropriate legal and governance services
• Ensuring relevant legal and regulatory developments are reflected in the firm’s practices and processes
• Develop a corporate legal strategy that promotes and protects organizational interests

We are looking for someone who:

• 7+PQE* solicitor or barrister (ideally UK qualified but other jurisdictions also considered);
• Well-rounded experience across corporate law, venture practice and legal/regulatory issues around cryptocurrency, gained either in private practice or in an in-house role
• Provides authoritative, risk-based advice yet understands the commercial needs of the complex evolution of this space
• Previous experience of leading negotiations and managing complex, high value transactions
• Previous experience of advising on equity and token fundraising
• Sound commercial judgment and an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to communicate risk vs reward in a fast moving environment
• A working knowledge of or strong interest in developing an expertise in blockchains and decentralized technology

Outlier Ventures is seeking a Product Engineer to help its growing portfolio of Web3 startups execute their product roadmap by leveraging the best web3 technologies and mixing them with web2 tech when applicable.

You will work cross-department here at Outlier Ventures, as part of the Product & Engineering Team. Our team is serving a critical function here at Outlier Ventures, where we serve both internal teams and startups with our expertise.

Product Engineers have a role in identifying the best technology stack. They help the portfolio companies find trade-offs by mixing web2 tech with web3 ones in a seamless matter.

In this role, you work hand in hand with our internal solution architects and with technical co-founders, CTOs and engineers at the crossroads of business and blockchain technology.

Web3 ecosystem landscape is constantly changing, and because of that, looking, selecting and staying updated with the web3 technologies plays a primary role. It offers an excellent opportunity to use your experience and practical approach to filter the noise from the signal.

Plus, because we are an accelerator, you will be involved in the admission process of the startups. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the selection process that shapes the subsequent batches of founders. We are looking for someone who:

• Has been exposed to the hectic startup life either as a founder/employee/investor.
• Got 1-2 years of exposure to Web3 technologies and build something hands-on.

• Has built solutions with REST and/or GraphQL
