The Opportunity

We’re adding to our elite trading team of competitive individuals who are active participants in crypto markets. As a Junior Trader, you will have the opportunity to learn from crypto native experts, from understanding the fundamentals of trading, crypto/financial markets, and the basics of how blockchains work to analyzing chain transactions. We are looking for candidates from a diversity of backgrounds - so long as they have a passion for crypto/financial markets, the ability to think and learn fast, and a competitive drive to win. This is a high-impact, high-reward position that is heavily incentivized toward bonus with a direct tie to P&L.

This role is based in our office in Montreal, Canada. We are happy to support relocation and are ideally looking for individuals to begin with us no later than November 12, 2024.

In this role, you’ll get to

• Build professional trading skills in a high-impact, fast paced environment, from developing a strategy to executing trades
• Develop a deep understanding of crypto/financial markets through monitoring and analysis
• Research & analyze emerging crypto protocols and projects

Our interview process will include a game-based aptitude assessment, followed by a video call with our recruitment team and our hiring leads. For the final round, we will arrange for in-person interviews in our Montreal office and an opportunity to meet with the trading team.

The Opportunity

As a Junior Front-End Developer on the Nascent team you will play a critical role in building and deploying front-end code to our trading platform. From designing high impact and scalable components to solving complex technical and design problems you will serve as an integral partner to our trading team. Working closely with our trading group and engineering team, you’ll have an opportunity to exercise creativity and technical skill in solving meaningful problems, empowering our trading team to thrive at the forefront of the crypto ecosystem.

This role is a unique skillset, requiring a blend of technical expertise, effective collaboration skills, and an understanding and appreciation of financial markets and blockchain technology. This is a high-impact team, designed to advance the strategies that make our team successful. The ideal candidate is early in their career, curious and eager to contribute to building the future global economic system.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design and build the next phase of Nascent’s ecosystem, enabling our team to do their best work
• Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression and user acceptance testing
• Be an integral contributor to a lean agile development team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Operate independently and in unison with a team to deliver code updates

About you

• You crave autonomy and agency to deliver against a shared vision and find real joy in providing solutions to complex problems
• You enjoy connecting the dots between teams, valuing strong communication and collaboration
• You are curious about the future of crypto, trading and the financial world as a whole

Preferred experience

• 1-2 years of experience in Front-end development, ideally using React, Angular or VueJS
• Previous experience in creating visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces, ideally for complex financial applications

Bonus experience

• Experience and/or interest in learning Rust or other systems programming languages
• UX Design Skills with experience in tooling such as InVision, Figma, Balsamiq
• Have built trading and/or financial applications in the past (through experience, hobby or project work)
