About the role

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer with deep expertise in distributed systems to design and implement reliable and scalable blockchain automation, relaying, and indexing services. In this role, you will develop backend applications that facilitate cross-chain protocol workflows, such as asset transfer and generalized message passing, while ensuring that our systems are fault-tolerant and highly available.

Your responsibilities

• Network Liveness: Our team builds and operates the execution layer of the Axelar Network - we are responsible for ensuring every transaction on the network is delivered quickly and reliably.
• System Design & Implementation: Design and build highly reliable and scalable backend systems for blockchain indexing and cross-chain protocols. Develop microservices that operate across diverse execution environments, including Kubernetes and AWS Lambdas.
• SDK Development: Build and maintain SDKs that enable developers to seamlessly plug-and-play new blockchains and applications into the Axelar Network.
• Protocol Development: improve and extend the on and off-chain design and implementation of Axelar Network interoperability protocols such as GMP
• Distributed Systems: Leverage your expertise in distributed systems to ensure fault tolerance, graceful failure handling, and transparent recovery across our services.

Your profile

• Strong experience working with distributed systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of fault tolerance in distributed systems and building software that fails gracefully and recovers transparently.
• Experience working with distributed messaging frameworks (RabbitMQ, AMPQ, or similar) and message driven applications.
• Experience building and orchestrating microservices running in different execution environments like Kubernetes and AWS lambdas.
• We use GoLang, Typescript, Terraform, AWS in our day-to-day work. You may not be an expert with all of these technologies, but we are looking for somebody with strong skills with some of them or with transferable experience.

About the role

As the Global Community Lead, you will report directly to the Global Head of Marketing. Your primary responsibility will be to build and lead a team of Community Managers in establishing, and nurturing a highly specialized community of end users and developers for Axelar. You will play a pivotal role in attracting top content creators, developers and researchers to the Axelar ecosystem, and your focus will be on actively engaging, supporting, and growing this community to complement Axelar’s product development efforts.

This role is crucial in supporting Axelar’s evolution towards building the most comprehensive and robust blockchain interoperability solution. You’ll be at the forefront of Axelar’s efforts in developing cutting-edge technologies like the Interchain Amplifier and the Interchain Token Service, which are central to Axelar’s mission of solving liquidity and fragmentation issues in the blockchain space. You will launch a team of Community Managers to build a strong online community (on platforms like Telegram, Twitter and Discord) and also work closely with the events team to leverage IRL activations to support community building.

Your work will directly impact the growth and success of Axelar’s open-source initiatives, fostering a community that can provide valuable feedback, actively participate in the product roadmap, and contribute to the technology stack.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive community strategy tailored to the needs of Developers and End Users, in collaboration with leadership and team inputs.
• Lead and manage a team of Community Managers to implement community engagement initiatives in key markets globally.
• Establish clear communication channels and processes between the Community team, Marketing, BD, and Engineering teams, including coordination with the Technical Docs team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Events, Founders Community, Marketing, and external communities to optimize communication flows and generate leads, thereby enhancing community growth.
• Expand the reach and network of the Axelar community by fostering collaborations with relevant individuals and entities within the Developer and End User domains.
• Work closely with Product teams to gather community feedback, facilitate contributions to technical documentation, and align community insights with product roadmap development.
• Evangelize Axelar’s products through content creation, hackathons, workshops, and building reference implementations and guides with the support of Devrel.
• Foster a culture of open-source collaboration across the organization and community, leveraging OSS principles to drive community contributions and support.

Your profile

• Proven experience in building and scaling communities within the Web3 industry, with deep understanding of Web3 Protocols.
• Familiarity and visibility within the interoperability development and research community.
• Ability to create holistic strategies for engaging Developers and End Users, informed by a deep understanding of their personas.
• Proficiency in managing community forums and platforms like Twitter, Discord, Telegram, etc., using best practices to drive awareness, engagement, support, and incentivization.
• Strong network within the Web3 developer and end user domains, with a track record of driving active collaborations.
• Prior experience managing diverse teams, with adept people management skills and an understanding of the unique dynamics of Web3 culture.
• Being comfortable navigating ambiguity and translating high-level direction into actionable plans and strategies. *Understanding of Open Source products and communities, with a commitment to fostering an OSS ethos across both the organization and the wider community.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Technical Product Manager to work on our portfolio of products. The first product this person will work on is the Axelar Interchain Token Service (ITS) https://www.axelar.network/its.

The development of Web3 technology faces a blockchain interoperability challenge. Applications that rely on digital tokens use bridges that strip away fungibility and functionality, or incur the heavy cost of deployment on multiple chains.

Axelar’s Interchain Token Service (ITS) is a product suite that supports issuing interchain tokens with the following features:

• Fungibility: Wrapped versions on connected chains are fungible with one another.
• Custom functionality: Custom tokens keep their features, cross-chain.
• Low overhead: Smart contracts and developer tools automate complex developer tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in blockchain technology, a deep understanding of blockchain interoperability, and a proven track record in product management. This role will involve close collaboration with engineering, marketing, and business development teams.

Your responsibilities

• Product Strategy & Roadmap:
  • Define and execute the vision and strategy of products.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with the company’s strategic goals, by collecting requirements from both internal teams and external partners/customers.
  • Prioritize product features and improvements based on customer feedback, market trends, and business objectives. Run customer interviews and market surveys to test new features.
• Technical Leadership:
  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure technical feasibility and optimal implementation of product features.
  • Provide clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to guide the development process.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in blockchain technology and interoperability.
• Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with marketing and business development teams to define go-to-market strategies and drive product adoption.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and stakeholders to gather feedback and identify opportunities for product improvement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all product-related inquiries and issues.
• Performance & Growth:
  • Monitor and analyze product performance metrics to ensure the success and growth of the Axelar Interchain Token Service.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve user experience, scalability, and product security.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the product and the team.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven product management experience, focusing on blockchain technology or a related field.
• Strong understanding of blockchain concepts, decentralized networks, and related technologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced start-up environment and embrace new challenges.
• Strong technical background with the ability to understand and contribute to complex technical discussions. Coding experience is a plus.
