Evmos is the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) Hub on Cosmos and enables developers to launch apps that run smart contracts across any number of EVM and Cosmos-based blockchains. It makes that process as simple and seamless as possible by allowing developers to continue creating apps in programming languages like Solidity or Vyper they’re already accustomed to in the Ethereum ecosystem.

About the role:

We love what we do (building high tech for techies), and apparently so does our community. We have a vision (=product roadmap) what we believe we need to build - but to do that we need about twice the number of cool people to join us. 

As a Product Manager you act as representative of Evmos and their products. You will also support the design and engineering team, you strategically update the roadmap and manage it with the head of product. You fill the cracks where others can’t. You have the ability to contribute towards a grand vision and help workshop cohesive ideas.

You are interested in building a community and strong engineering culture, not just a product.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work closely with design and engineering team, organize sprints and participate in stand-ups, inspiring your cross-functional peers to pursue both continued progress and consistent excellence
• Lead project execution from design to production roll-out and while maintaining a high bar of product quality and polish
• Define the requirements and roadmap for multiple components across Evmos, unifying the efforts of various project teams
• Complete research proposals for executive team on how to steer the direction of the roadmap, both from a bottom-up and top-down approach
• Research integrations with new partners and help develop novel solutions that benefit the lives of our end users
• Engage in proactive user research to better understand the Evmos ecosystem and evolving stakeholder needs
• Be an ambassador for the Evmos brand and community. Create and improve repeatable organizational processes in a fast paced and unstructured environment
• Keep up to date with crypto research to ensure we’re always building top-notch products and solutions

You may be a fit for this role if you have:**

• At least 2 years of experience at a tech company, having managed products or extensive internship experience as a product manager at venture backed startup or top tech company at some point in your career
• Experience building and maintaining 0 to 1 platform products, including APIs
• Proven success building product experiences across mobile and web
• A strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (some understanding of systems, data structures, databases, networking, security and cryptography) as you will be working closely with engineers)
• You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Conviction about the crypto space, specifically in protocol and DeFi verticals
• Inherent skills at understanding complex problems and distilling them into simpler, straightforward descriptions (too vague)
• An empathetic mindset towards the way others’ work and know how to adapt your style to compliment theirs
• A desire to be part of an organization that allows you to make decisions autonomously

What you will learn:

• You’ll get familiarity with blockchain technologies and to a point where you can develop an intensive depth of knowledge of them
• Building and shaping the creation of our Evmos brand and helping to further develop the Evmos Ecosystem
• Running product with a strong team that has extensive focus working on crypto/blockchains

Nice to Have:

• Have a deep understanding of DeFi, blockchain protocols, other products in web3 or TradFi
• MBA, analyst or research lab experience
• Past experience having built product on the front line - i.e. as a designer or engineer
• Have dealt with SRE work as an engineer like incident response and crisis response
• Are capable of “dogfooding” your own product as a means of top-down product management

What you’ll be doing

As a Core Engineer, you will be working closely with our co-founders and our Core Engineering team to create and develop the EVM and interoperability components for our blockchain. You will participate in driving technical specifications, design, architecture, and the implementation for our EVM on the Cosmos SDK. As your knowledge of the internal codebase matures, you will have an ownership role in all elements of project life cycles: research, design, development, testing & reviews, Q/A, and deployment. This will help us minimize tech debt while strategically driving new features that power all the decentralized applications deployed on Evmos.

Working with us will also give you the opportunity to collaborate directly with other engineering teams and projects in the ecosystem like the IBC, Cosmos, and Tendermint Core teams.

What you will learn

At Evmos you’ll get familiarity with blockchain technologies to a point where you can develop an intensive depth of knowledge of them. We will teach you how smart contracts work at a lower lever using the EVM and go-ethereum (aka. Geth) and also how to implement app chains using the Cosmos SDK framework and the Tendermint Consensus Engine.

As a software engineer, you will be able to write production-quality code in Go that is easy to audit and efficient in terms of deployment, execution, and maintenance. You will also learn how to use different technologies like Protobuf encoding, write API clients in gRPC, JSON-RPC, or REST. After a few months working with us, you will be able to write clean and effective documentation and comments so that you can communicate the changes you implemented to the rest of the team, open source contributors and auditors.

Our team taught the first university-level Blockchain for Developers course at UC Berkeley so we can also guide you though the journey of learning other disciplines related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain like economics, mathematics, cryptography, distributed systems, and more.

Nice to Haves

Although a formal CS degree is NOT strictly required, we are looking with someone with “computer science fundamentals” or relevant experience in the field. We’re looking for new teammates that have excellent communication and collaboration skills. Other bonus or nice to haves items are:

• Understanding of blockchain technology, distributed systems, or cryptography.
• Knowledge of Javascript, Typescript, or Rust.
• Experience working with Docker, and/or Kubernetes.
• Experience working with any public cloud service (eg. AWS or GCP).
• Familiarity with code generation tools, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure as code.
• You are well connected and had given conference talks or written content to boost your personal brand, for example.
• You want to help us build community in the cities where we operate.

What is Business Development at Evmos?

As a member of the business development team you will be responsible for developing an active and prosperous ecosystem of value creation on the Evmos blockchain. You will work closely with other business development team members, as well as other cross-functional team members, to support existing projects within the evmos ecosystem as well as engage with prospective community members to get more teams building on Evmos.

The candidate will be responsible for providing resources to support projects within the Evmos ecosystem and help them capture users. The ideal candidate has previously worked in a role that challenged them to bring parties together for shared benefit and can work autonomously creating their own goals and desired outcomes for the role. In addition to working with existing ecosystem projects, the business development team is responsible for driving new growth by targeting new projects that aren’t already building on Evmos. If successful, this candidate will bring new projects, brands and users to the Evmos Ecosystem.

We are actively looking for individuals who can help us grow our DeFi, Gaming/NFT, and institutional/infrastructure ecosystems!

What you’ll be doing

• Identify and collaborate with reputable projects and support their goals of building on Evmos
• Structure collaborations between Evmos and prospective projects
• Be a liaison for projects to feel supported with any obstacles they face.
• Define strategic priorities for yourself and the rest of the team to bring more value to the Evmos ecosystem
• Be the voice of the customer and work with product, marketing, engineering teams to help drive use cases for the Evmos blockchain.
