Marketing Strategist

Chronicle Labs is funded by MakerDAO and responsible for the development and adoption of the Chronicle Protocol, a decentralized blockchain-agnostic infrastructure layer for data.

Chronicle Oracles act as arbiters of trust that provide data with integrity and censorship guarantees to blockchain applications. Chronicle Oracles have been live since 2016 and secure over $10B in MakerDAO as well as other top DeFi protocols.

We are looking for a seasoned Web3 marketing lead to develop and execute our marketing strategy from scratch. You will be responsible for creating awareness around the Chronicle Protocol building strong brand alignment between the Web3 ecosystem and our product range. We are a lean team, so this role is for someone who enjoys being hands-on and having full ownership and autonomy over their work. You are the expert. We want to get out of your way and let you do what you do best.

What you’ll work on

• Develop and execute a marketing strategy around the Chronicle brand, protocol, and its products. Ensure that we communicate the value of Chronicle in compelling and effective ways that target different audiences
• Develop key talking points for Chronicle which are integrated across all content
• Craft a high-quality and engaging content pipeline across a variety of mediums, including social media posts, newsletters, press releases, educational content, and long-form articles.
• Develop roadmaps for events, sponsorships, partner co-marketing programs, and product launches to connect with target audiences and drive growth.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to describe complex topics in ways that can appeal to multiple audience segments.
• Manage our social media channels and engage with a crypto-native audience with full ownership over Twitter content and publishing timeline
• Keep up to date with current trends both in Crypto Twitter and Web3 development.

Job requirements

• 4+ years of experience in marketing
• 2+ years experience in Web3 marketing
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including crypto-fluency
• Excellent organizational, project management and people skills
• Ability to work autonomously, communicate, and function in a small team

You will stand out if

• Past experience executing successful marketing strategy for one or more DeFi protocols
• Experience managing social media accounts like Twitter and can explain the content and engagement strategies utilized
• Portfolio showcasing an intricate understanding of how content is tailored to different audiences
• Familiarity with working in a startup environment.
• Experience working and collaborating in a distributed digital native environment (Discord, Notion, Shortcut).

Our team is looking for a seasoned DevOps Engineer to fill a critical leadership role in the team. You will be responsible for rearchitecting our infrastructure end-to-end and sharing you wealth of knowledge with the team so we are up to date with industry best practices. We are still a lean team, so this role is for someone who enjoys being hands-on and having full ownership and autonomy over their work. You are the expert. What you’ll work on

• Ensure the availability, reliability, resiliency, and latency of our Oracle services.
• Infrastructure automation. Design, set up, and maintain Infrastructure as Code, providing automated provisioning and orchestration of internal development, staging, and production services using Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and similar technologies.
• Manage virtual network infrastructure through our cloud providers such as AWS, including DNS/domain management, firewall and load balancing services.
• Orchestrate the deployment, monitoring, and uptime of various blockchain RPC nodes including Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, Binance SmartChain, Polygon, zkSync, Starknet, Avalanche, and Fantom.
• Manage virtual servers running a variety of services including React, MongoDB and Redis databases, API servers, as well as various scripts and bots.
• Manage logging, monitoring, detection, and recovery infrastructure, ensuring the continued integrity, availability, and security of internal and production systems.
• Schedule and execute OS and service patches and upgrades, keeping our infrastructure up-to-date and protected against security vulnerabilities.
• Select, secure, and manage administrative cloud services such as AWS, Google G-Suite, Github, Grafana, Notion, Shortcut, etc., to support internal operations.
• Operate the internal support desk for these services. Investigate and troubleshoot issues and clearly communicate incident reports.
• Work with development teams to identify and implement which metrics are important to monitor and their alerting thresholds.
• Collaborate with development teams and QA engineers, supporting release pipelines with continuous integration and deployment of our platform and products.
• Inform and implement the Chronicle security strategy and policies. Create a culture of awareness and support the Chronicle teams in creating a secure, distributed working environment.

Job requirements

• Most AWS services; other cloud providers is a plus;
• Linux system administration and shell scripting;
• Infrastructure automation and Configuration Management tools;
• Ability to design, implement, maintain and collaborate on Infrastructure as Code (Terraform);
• Deploy services to Container Clusters (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS);
• Monitoring, Observability, Debugging and Performance tuning (Prometheus, Grafana);
• On-call experience (PagerDuty);
• Git/GitHub knowledge - usage and administration of multiple Organisations;
• Conceptual and implementational knowledge of CI/CD (GitHub Actions);
• Experience with disaster recovery implementation and strategies; and
• Interpersonal skills working with stakeholders at different technical levels and backgrounds

What we are looking for

A mid-level, backend engineer, to work with some of our existing team members, on adding new assets and feeds into our oracle service, enhancing our protocol and integrating with external platforms and services. Ideally, you will have a solid understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, low-level code, and different API frameworks. We need someone who is highly comfortable with Go, takes a lot of autonomy in their work, as we are in a remote setting, and would like to be in the weeds of blockchain and the web3 universe.

• Evolve the architecture of our data ecosystem as we scale the number of data sources interact with
• Architect and design components/service layers to sustainability scale as the number of blockchains/assets we support.
• Write services to poll data from traditional APIs, WebSockets and on-chain sources
• Evolve the architecture of our data ecosystem as we scale the amount of data sources we integrate with
• Provide support for integrating partners making use of our oracle service
• Own the data ingestion of data sources that power our oracle price feeds.

Job requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development
• 3+ years of Golang experience
• Extensive background working with WebServices
• Experience with test-driven development and the use of testing frameworks
• Experience developing complex web applications/services and backend APIs
• Knowledge of systems design concepts
• Experience with distributed systems and/or container orchestration
• Strong communication skills, specifically giving/receiving constructive feedback in a collaborative setting
• B.S. or higher in computer science, software engineering or related technical field

• Have prior experience with blockchain technologies or oracles
• You’ve built something incorporating ZK-SNARKS
• Have interacted with on-chain and off-chain data
• Understand the Web3 technical stack
